What is a domain name?
This is your internet address, e.g. www.plasticchicken.co.uk. Our price includes a .co.uk domain name of your choice.

What is web hosting?
Your website sits on a server which makes it available to be accessed by anyone on the internet. This is included in the price.

What is email forwarding?
This is an email address that automatically forwards emails to another email account of your choice. So, you could forward emails from mail@mybusiness.co.uk to bob123@btinternet.com. Email forwarding gives your email address a professional look.

How do you know what to put on my website?
You supply us with all the information (inc any photos) you would like on your site. You will do this via email or our upload point. You can choose what pages you would like, your domain name, email address, preferred colour schemes etc. Although we will produce a unique, creative and professional interface it is ultimately your responsibility to provide us with the content.

What if I'm not sure what to put on my website?
We work creatively with the information you supply in order to create a professional website for your business or organisation. Once you commission us, we will prompt you for all the information we usually need. However, the more information you can supply the better. Most clients usually request a contact, prices and home page.

When do I supply the information?
We will contact you asking for this information.

What do you mean by site content?
The words and pictures you would like to appear on your website. This could be paragraphs of text, such as a history of your business, or simply a table containing your times and prices. Just send anything you would like to be included, with an indication of your preferred colours etc. Don't forget to stipulate your page titles. If we need more information for your site we will contact you. We will build a creative interface around your content.

Do I get to design my own interface theme or style?
Not entirely. We use our own judgement to create a suitable theme to contain your site content - this approach allows us to keep our costs down. You are welcome to suggest a general layout for your site, perhaps where you would like your navigation bar, colours etc. You are also welcome to send us sketches or links to other sites you would like us to try and mimic - we will do our best to accommodate your design choices but can make no promises. We keep our prices low by consulting by email. This may not seem customer friendly but we are so confident in our product that you only pay if you're satisfied. It's not in our interest to spend time designing a product you will not want to subscribe to, so you're in safe hands.

How long will it take to design and build my website?
Each website is different. Most websites are completed and ready for approval between 1 and 2 weeks after your information has been supplied.

When do I pay?
You only pay once you are happy with the website. We are happy to keep modifying the website until you are completely satisfied. Once satisfied you pay us £5 a month to keep the site live. If you don't like the website and choose to walk away you owe us nothing and the website will be scrapped.

Why are you so much cheaper than other web design companies?
We don't create complicated websites for big companies. We only produce small but effective websites for small businesses, sole traders, clubs, teams and organisations. Designing your website is time consuming but we hope to recoup our costs from your continuing subscription.

Why should I trust you?
You have nothing to lose, if you don't like the website you don't pay for it. There is no minimum term, you can cancel at any time. All payments are made securely through PayPal. We never have access to your banking details.

Do you use templates?
No, each website is built from scratch.

If I want less than 5 pages, do I still pay the same?
Yes, but if you would like additional pages in future this will be at no cost.

Are there any hidden extras?
No, all our prices are clearly displayed on our prices page.

What do you mean by 'fair use' updates?
Once you're up and running we will make small updates to your website for free. This is typically changes to your times and prices, telephone number etc. Although there is no formal limit on this we would not expect to make changes more than once a month.

What is a major edit?
A major edit is when you request large changes to a page of your website, basically a big redesign.

What happens when my website has been designed and I need it updating?
Updates are free subject to fair use, major edits are chargeable.

What payment methods do you accept?
We only accept payment via PayPal. This is because PayPal is an established, trusted and secure payment system.

How do I cancel if I no longer need my website?
You can cancel at any time by sending us an email.

What happens to my website if I cancel my subscription?
Your website will be taken down from the internet.

Do you put adverts on my site?
No, we do not put adverts or banners on your site. We may put a link to Plastic Chicken at the bottom of your pages, but this is no bigger than the copyright notice at the botton of this page.

What if I want to pay annually?
You can pay annually and receive a discount. However, this is not refundable.
